France is characterized by the silhouettes of Paris, the beaches of Normandy, the French Alps, the fields of Provence, and the Riviera. My trip toured the popular and hidden scenes of the 300 km stretch of the Mediterranean named the Côte d'Azur. These images attempt to capture the colors and culture of everything from the sailboats of St. Tropez to the laundry of Chateaudouble. There is always more to an image than its composition, color, and subject, there is the thought of action in the scene before, during, and after the moment of capture. I hope and pray that the viewer looks beyond the moment captured, but sees and imagines the moments before and after. It is through this process that photographs can be scene in context, tell stories, and become symbols for the emotions and abstractions I adore.
